The evening note

Yoga & ayurvedic practice teacher

A quiet practice, taught by lamplight.

I teach gentle yoga and small ayurvedic rituals in Brighton — mostly to people who arrive wound too tight, sleep badly, and have forgotten that slowing down is a skill.

I came to this looking for sleep. Long working years had left me lying awake most nights with a back that never quite let go. The first fast, bright class I tried made it worse, and I nearly decided yoga was not for me.

Then I found a teacher who worked by evening light, moved slowly, and began every class with the breath. She spoke about warmth, routine and rest the way ayurveda does — as medicine, not indulgence. That was the practice that finally settled me.

So this is what I teach: short evening sequences, a longer exhale than inhale, warm and grounding shapes taken only to the edge of sensation, and rest treated as the point rather than the reward.

Everything I teach in the studio is written down here in plain language, so you can keep the ritual going at home on the nights you cannot come in.
